We’re surrounded by liars and cheats.

News on the Web is increasingly distorted to maximize page views and to mislead Google searches. Osama bin Laden is killed, and Mashable does a story on the Web angle. And another, and another, and another. All small, all slapdash, all stupid.

There’s also a plague of superficial “how-to” sites with millions of formulaic pages that offer marginal information. They pretend to help you, but they are intended mostly to fool Google. The first sentence mentions the brand name:
